Rémy Martin’s challenge was not about preference, but relevance. Cognac still carried associations with formality, tradition and special occasions, making it harder to recruit younger drinkers looking for lighter, more social and approachable experiences. The opportunity was to refresh how cognac is served, talked about and experienced without losing the quality and heritage behind the brand. We built the strategy around Rémy Ginger, a simple highball combining cognac, ginger and soda. Fresh, fizzy and easy to understand, it gave new drinkers a lower-barrier entry into the category while shifting Rémy Martin from a formal occasion drink into something that could belong at summer gatherings, happy hour and everyday social moments. The toolkit brought that new attitude to life across bartender advocacy, on-trade and experiential activation. Influencer sets helped bartenders introduce the serve, while carts, photo moments, umbrellas, chairs, tables, custom glassware and bar tools created a distinctive sunny world around it. Social extensions such as an Insta filter, karaoke activation and cocktail guessing game helped turn trial into participation and conversation. The final step was taking that momentum into off-trade through combo packs, chilling sleeves and interactive bottle neckers, making the serve easier to recreate at home. The result was a complete system designed to bridge heritage and modern drinking culture, keeping Rémy Martin premium while opening the door to a younger, more social audience.
